ELYRIA — About 2,285 Ohio Edison customers were without electricity at 12:15 a.m. this morning after an outage that began about 10:10 p.m.
About 2,192 of the customers were in Elyria, with the remainder in Elyria Township, according to Gary Mortus, an Ohio Edison spokesman. Mortus, who said was unsure what caused the outage, said he expected electricity to be fully restored by 1 a.m. today.
A firefighter said the Fire Department responded to a call of downed electrical lines at Woodford Avenue and West River Road North shortly after the outage was reported.
The area affected by the outage included downtown Elyria and surrounding neighborhoods, according to police Lt. Jason Cunningham.
