Leo R. Meyer, Jr., 87, of Spring Hill, FL. and Elyria, died January 30, 2007. He was born August 17, 1919 to Leo R. Meyer, Sr. and Lillian G. Meyer, (past Mother of the Year in 1952). He graduated from Elyria High School in 1937 and attended Kiske Prep School in Saltsburgh, PA. and Miami University.
In 1941 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. and served as Master Sgt./Crew Chief. On his return he spent many years in the family business, the Leo R. Meyer Motor Company. While in Elyria, he was an active member of Elyria Elks 465 and served as exalted ruler in 1952. He retired as regional sales manager for Magic Chef in Bellevue in 1985 and moved to Spring Hill, FL.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Thelma Kelly Meyer, Jan Ross Meyer and Julia Marian Meyer; brother, Alvin J. Bud Meyer; son-in-law, Robert Clark Jr.; and brother-in-law, Andrew Hinshaw.
Survivors include his sons, William Kelly (Betsy) Meyer of Greensboro, NC and Robert D. Meyer (Bobby) of Elyria; daughters, Betsy M. Clark of Spring Hill, FL and Kate Kelly Meyer of Elyria; brother, Jack O. Meyer of Atlanta, GA; sister, Lois Hinshaw of Hamilton; sister-in-law, Martha Meyer of Parkland, FL. Leo was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and associates.
He will be remembered by all as a loving, generous, kind, gentleman who was devoted to his family.
There will be a memorial service at Brookdale Cemetery on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 2:30 P.M.
