Walter D. Lundberg, 88, of N. Ridgeville and formerly of Elyria, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at his home. He was born March 19, 1919 in Monessen, PA and attended the University of Pittsburgh.
He was employed at Bendix Corporation in Wilmerding, PA and was transferred to Bendix in Elyria in 1939, where he was employed until retiring in 1983.
He was a licensed real estate broker and was the owner of Walt Lundberg Realty in Elyria.
He was a member of Westlake United Methodist Church and also a 54 year member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Elyria.
He was past president and director of the Lorain County Board of Realtors and past president of Elyria Board of Realtors. He was Broker of the Year in 1983.
He was a member and Past President of East Elyria Kiwanis Club and Past Lieutenant Governor. He was Hoby Chairman and received the past international president’s award and also was the recipient of the George F. Hixon Fellow.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; a son, Norman H. (Rosalie) Lundberg of Elyria; grandchildren, Grant (Judy) Lundberg, Eric (Carrie) Lundberg, and Brenda (Chris) Knipper all of Elyria; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Victoria Lidell of Brooklyn Heights, NY; stepchildren, Darlene (David) Daugherty of Swanton, John (Delores) Baker of Lawton, OK, Paul (Eva) Baker of Englewood, CO, Michele Gonzales of Tucson, AZ and Michael (Kortney) Baker of Akron; 14 step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bess E. Lundberg in 1979.
Visitation will be Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A memorial service will be Sunday 4 P.M. at Westlake United Methodist Church, 27650 Center Ridge Rd., Westlake. Rev. Judy Claycomb will officiate.
