Gordon Clair Prunty, 70, of LaGrange Twp., died Friday, September 28, 2007 at University Hospitals, Cleveland after a short illness.
He was born April 10, 1937 in Painesville, and had lived most of his life in Lorain County. Gordon was a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1956 – 1958. He drove truck for 36 years for Chapin Trucking and Forrest Distributing Co., Lorain, retiring in 1995.
He was a life member of Elyria Amvets Post 32, serving as chief financial officer for 25 years, and a member of Elyria United Polish Club and Teamsters Local #571. He enjoyed hunting, remodeling his home, spending time with his grandchildren and his cat, “Tiger”.
He is survived by his wife of almost 21 years, Patricia “Pat” (nee Kish); sons, Gordon (Nora) Prunty of Haines City, FL, Jeff (Marge) Prunty of Lake Wales, FL, and Scott (Trish) Prunty of Fremont; daughters, Linda (Mike) Baskett of Boonville, IN, and Melissa (Raymond) Prunty of Frametown, WV. Also surviving are stepsons, Jack (Nathalie) Pettit, Jr. of Kaneohe, HI, Ron (Tracy) Bruner, Jr. of Webster Springs, WV; and stepdaughter, Anna (Johnathan) Whitfield of Elyria; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; mother, Charlotte L. Prunty of Elyria; and brother, Dale (Jamie) Prunty of Iowa Park, TX.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Wright in 2006; father, Gordon C. Prunty in 1993; and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be Monday, October 1, 2007 from 5:30 to 8 P.M. in the Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria where a Funeral
Service will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 2, 2007. Pastor, Micheal Baskett will officiate. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, and a luncheon will follow at Elyria Amvets Post 32, 11087 Middle Ave., Elyria.
