Patricia Spencer (nee Smith), 83, formerly of Elyria, died December 21, 2007 in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she had been a resident since 1990.
She was born March 22, 1924 in Elyria. She graduated from Elyria High School in 1942 and Flora Stone Mather College of Western Reserve University (CWRU) in 1946. She accompanied her husband in his business career and lived throughout North America and South America. She was formerly employed at The Glidden Company in Cleveland. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Elyria and Westminster Suncoast Chorus in St. Petersburg.
She was a volunteer for various children’s activities. She was an artist and painted with oils, watercolors and also sketches. Other interests were gardening, traveling and attending elder hostels.
Patricia is survived by her husband of sixty years, Walter O. Spencer of St. Petersburg; daughter, Mary Spencer Baker (husband Gary); grandsons Brian DeFord Baker and Andrew Elliott Baker, all of Medina and a son Walter Elliott Spencer of Greenville, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Smith.
The date of memorial service will be announced in the Spring. Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria is in charge of arrangements.
