Barbara Lee Best, 76, of Elyria, passed away Friday evening, November 16, 2012 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria following a lengthy illness. She was born September 5, 1936 in Dubois, Pennsylvania and moved to Elyria with her family as a young child.
She graduated from Elyria High School with the Class of 1954. Barbara worked for Western Automatic (later Moen, Inc.) in Elyria with 30 years of service as a metallurgical lab sampler. Following that, she worked for Ray Esser & Sons Plumbing & Heating, Inc. She was a member of St John Lutheran Church in Elyria and The United Polish Club also a auxiliary member of VFW Post #1079. Barbara loved golfing, working in her yard and going to vintage car shows.
She is survived by her two sisters, Patricia Esser (husband, Raymond) and Linda Mertz, both of Elyria; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clair J. and Dorothy L. Best (nee Krach).
Funeral Services will be held at St John Lutheran Church, 1140 West River Road, Elyria on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:30
A.M. Rev. Jim Herbolsheimer, Pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday, November 19, 2012.
