Mildred S. Getty, 102, died Monday, February 4, 2013, at Wesleyan Village, Elyria. She was born October 2, 1910, in Arcadia, Pennsylvania, and was a 1929 graduate of Montgomery Township High School. She had been a 57 year resident of Oberlin before moving to Wesleyan Village in 1998.
Mildred was a member of First United Methodist Church of Oberlin and a Past Matron of Pansy Chapter, Order Of Eastern Star # 34 in Oberlin. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, reading and traveling.
Mildred is survived by sons, James J. (Carol) Getty of Kansas City, Missouri and Eugene C. (Barbara) Getty of Medina; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and a sister, Vivian Small of Erie, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, James A. Getty in 2005; daughter, Greta Singleton in 1994; parents, John and Lorella Sheesley; and sisters, Laura Fleming, Lucille Fuller and Pauline Todd.
Her funeral service will be Thursday, February 7, 2013, 11 A.M., at First United Methodist Church of Oberlin, 45 South Professor St., Oberlin. Reverend Beth McKee, Chaplain of Wesleyan Village, will officiate. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
