Carl Blair, 55, of Reynoldsburg, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, following a lengthy illness. He was born October 25, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee but was raised in Lorain.
He attended Lorain City Schools, playing football and basketball for Hawthorne Junior High and was a 1977 graduate of Lorain High School, where he played on the school’s basketball team, and was a graduate of Ohio State College of Barber Styling. He moved to the Columbus area in 2003 where he worked as a licensed professional barber with his son at Off The Top Barber Shop.
In addition to being an avid sports fan, Carl enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, and being a fashionable dresser, having professionally modeled for the former Harry’s Menswear Co. in Lorain.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Annie C. Blair, and son, Sheldon Blair, both of Columbus; his stepchildren, Jackie Denson of Elyria, Vonetta Denson and Anthony Denson, both of Reynoldsburg, and Clyde Ross of Columbus; his mother, Daisy Blair, sister, Charlesetta Brown, and two brothers, Glen Jenkins and Oscar David Blair, all of Lorain; a host of grandchildren; a great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his father, Oscar D. Blair, Sr.; a brother, Robert Blair, Jr.; a sister, Ozetta Blair; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Friends may call Friday, March 1, 2013 from 6 to 9 P.M., at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11 A.M., at Compassion Baptist Church, 520 W 22nd St., Lorain. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
