Dora Mae Jeffrey (nee Bartley), 89, of Elyria, and formerly of Wellington, passed away late Monday, March 11, 2013 at New Life Hospice in Lorain. She was born April 8, 1923 in Gallia, Ohio. Dora grew up in Logan County, West Virginia, and attended schools there.
She married Garland Edmond Jeffrey on January 26, 1943 at the courthouse in Logan. Garland died in August 1975. Over the years, Dora worked at several places in Lorain County, including the turnpike restaurants in Amherst, Mueller’s Packaging in Oberlin, and retiring from Forest City Foam Products in Wellington. She enjoyed crafts, yard work, and walking.
Mrs. Jeffrey is survived by two daughters, Oleta Mae Jeffrey and Betty Loretta Jeffrey of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Franklin Bartley and Norma Estel Taylor; twin sons, Jerry and Curtis, who died shortly after birth; siblings, Lizzie Lee Gillispie, Delores Talbert, James Ernest Bartley, George Howard Bartley, Virginia Edith Culbertson, Roy Kurtis Bartley, Flora Mabel Jeffrey (Dora’s twin), Goldie Vivian Weese, and Gertie Arbutus Bartley; and half-sister Mary Magdalene Damron.
A graveside service will be at 10 A.M., Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Logan, West Virginia.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Busch Funeral and Crematory Services, Elyria.
