A life long resident of Lorain County, George served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He was stationed at Fort Smith, Arkansas and Nuremberg, Germany. George worked a large part of his career in the United States Postal Service at the Wellington and Elyria post offices. George loved sports. He was a fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He coached many of his sons’ baseball teams and umpired the sport for many years. George was a member of Camden Baptist Church in Camden Township. He was a devoted family man who was always concerned with the welfare of his family before himself.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna (nee Earl); children, Terry (Angie) Brlas of Brunswick, Beth (Kevin) Dendorfer of Camden Township, and Jeffrey (Debbie) Brlas of Camden Township; grandchildren, Faith Brlas, Daniel and Courtney Dendorfer, Jeffrey, Brittany, and Matthew Brlas; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Mike, and John Brlas; sister, Mary Ford; and parents, Michael and Susie Brlas.
Friends may call Sunday, March 24, 2013, from 3 to 6 P.M., at the Camden Baptist Church, 17901 State Rt. 511, Wellington. Service will be held Monday, March 25, 2013, at 11 A.M., at the church. Pastors Larry Nocella and Bill Kopas will be officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Camden Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Morman Funeral Home, Wakeman.
