One of 10 children born to Maximino and Maria Ramirez, he was a Lorain High School Alumni, where he enjoyed being a member of the Choral Group.
Mr. Ramirez was employed by U.S. Steel for a year before serving in the United States Air Force in South Africa during the Korean War.
In 1955 he founded Ace Plumbing and Heating which he operated until 1969. Jesse then worked for General Motors as a Tinsmith. During a layoff from the plant he also served as the Building Inspector for the City of Lorain. Returning to the GM Parma plant, he retired in 1995 after 27 years of dedicated service.
During this time, Jesse helped to coach "F" league boys baseball, was an Assistant Boy Scout Leader, an Auxiliary Officer with the Lorain County Sheriff's Dept., an unofficial "employee" of Fritz's Garage and an "honorary" member of the Lorain Police Force.
Jesse enjoyed his retirement with his beloved wife, Evelyn, who preceded him in death in 2010 after 53 years of marriage.
He gave of his time and talent to help anyone in need. He will be remembered for his smile, sense of humor, and, being the ever accommodating host, the love of a good party. Jesse loved to talk about his life experiences with anyone who would listen. His family was his number one priority and a great source of pride for him.
He will be dearly missed by his sons, Jan Michael (Bernadette) Ramirez of North Ridgeville and Robert (Valerie) Ramirez of Columbus Grove, Ohio; his daughters, Stephanie (Ralph) Woodings of Maryville, Tennessee and Lisa (Marvin) Rios of Elyria; grandchildren, Mitchell (Kelly), Benjamin, Nathaniel and Reece Ramirez, Stephen Tanner, Adam (Hillary), Alex, Matthew and Rachel Rios, Valerie (Ben) and Marlene Woodings; six great grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Karen) Ramirez of Elyria, Enrique (Isabel) Ramirez of Lorain, Max (Charlotte) Ramirez of Seguin, Texas; and sister, Maria (Victor) Munoz of Lorain.
