Juanita F. Mitchell, 72, of Elyria, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Life Care Center of Westlake, under the care of Crossroads Hospice. She was born in Elyria and was a lifelong resident of Lorain County.
Juanita was a 1959 graduate of Marion L. Steele in Amherst. She had worked for the Elyria Schools as a crossing guard and in the cafeteria of McKinley Elementary School until her retirement in 2009. She was a member of the North Eaton Christian Church. Juanita loved her AKC Boxers and showed them in dog shows all over the United States.
Survivors include her brothers, Carl Mitchell of Michigan, Robert Mitchell of Elyria, James (Ruth) Mitchell of Nova; and longtime companion, Darrell Deiterich; sister-in-law, Cathy Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Mitchell, Alfred Mitchell, Gerald Mitchell and Kenneth Mitchell; sister, Betty Mae Willis; and by her parents, John W. and Wanda (nee Leadenham) Mitchell.
Friends may call Monday, January 6, 2014 from 4 to 6 P.M. at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Rd., Sheffield Township, where Service will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 11 A.M. The Reverend Charles Butcher, Pastor of North Eaton Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery.
