Janice E. Mitchell (nee Huskinson), 81, of Elyria, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph. She was born September 26, 1932 in Lakewood.
She was a graduate of Elyria High School. Janice was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Rainbow Girls and Eastern Star. Her interests include an Active Church member, avid bingo player, card player and a volunteer for fostering pets.
Survivors include her daughters, Paula (Kim) Andrus of Carencro, Louisiana, Christine Wilkins of Elyria, Linda Wilkins of San Diego, California, Sue Coleman (Debra Spear) of San Diego, California, Michele Lang of S. Amherst, Pamela (Ron) Brown of Clinton, Pennsylvania; son, Kenneth R. Mitchell, Jr. of San Diego, California; brothers, Fred of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Ernest of Elyria; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Sr.; daughter, Brenda Melton; and parents, Fred and Della (nee Dumas).
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria, (440) 322-4626, where services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, April 17, 2014. Rev. Chuck Behrens, Chaplain of the Hospice of Western Reserve, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
