Sandra Jean Smith, 64, of Creston, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Hospice of Medina County Care Center following a one month illness. She was born Nov. 14, 1949 in Charleston, West Virginia and was the daughter of Leon and Laura (Meeks) Longbrake.
Sandy graduated from Elyria High School and from Baldwin Wallace College with a degree in Social Work. She worked for many years with the mentally handicapped and recently retired from the Counseling Center of Wayne and Holmes Counties. She married Paul R. Smith on May 7, 2005 and he recently preceded her in death on May 15, 2014. Together they co-pastored the House of Faith Church in Creston. Sandy enjoyed gardening and baking and was always serving other people and the Lord.
Surviving are her daughter, Laurie (Tim) Perry of Rittman; 2 granddaughters and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Moss and her daughter Lyla and Alexis Moss; her mother Laura Longbrake of Elyria; a brother, Jim (Mary) Longbrake of Lorain and Paul’s family the Smiths. She was preceded in death by her father in 2014.
Service will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 5 P.M. at the South Main St. Church of God, 261 S. Main St., Rittman, Ohio with Rev. Jeff Ball officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the Church.
