Billy Ray Gilkeson, 82, of Elyria, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014, at Metrohealth System, Cleveland, after a sudden illness. Billy was born in Beckley, West Virginia on January 23, 1932, to the late George and West Virginia (nee Simms) Gilkeson.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Throughout his life, Billy was self employed as a sider working on residential homes, townhouses and condominiums in the Lorain County area. In retirement he enjoyed reading and walking. He was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Billy was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1079, Elyria.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Renae and Jimmy Westfall of Elyria, Ramona Mickelson and Wayne Christen of Lorain; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a sister, Beatrice Boyd of Florida.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Gilkeson and two sisters.
There will be no visitation or service.
