Sylvia attended Elyria High school and graduated in 1953, where she enjoyed being a majorette for the Elyria High School Marching Band. She spent many years as a housewife and homemaker. After her children were grown, she enjoyed a career in retail and real estate, being a receptionist for both Les Drage and Lehman Johnson and was involved in various community activities. Sylvia was very musical and began playing piano as a young child and enjoyed playing piano for many years. Her children and grandchildren will remember her for her many talents, including creative story telling.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Darrell Maddock of Elyria. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Marjorie Burgett and her five brothers, Lee, Russell, Doug, Jack and James Burgett.
Sylvia is survived by her brother, Richard Burgett of Tennessee and her five children, Darrell Maddock, Jr. of Kent, Denise Ohlemacher (Jeffrey) of Elyria, Dawn Alioto (Lou) of Northfield Center, Dianne Fenbers (Larry) of Malvern, Ohio, and Drew Maddock (Amanda) of Brunswick; 10 grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Natalie, Brandon, Andrew, Sean, Julia, Alexa, Kevin and Caden.
The family will respectfully honor Sylvia’s wishes for a graveside service for immediate family members only at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
