Thomas Edward Johnson, 81, of LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Keystone Point in LaGrange after a short illness. He was born September 26, 1932 in Beatrice, West Virginia.
He worked at Elyria Foundry as a Cost Estimate Engineer for 42 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of LaGrange
United Meth Church, former member of Lorain County Horse Club and lifetime member of Elyria VFW Post #1079. Thomas enjoyed horse training and trail riding, ballroom dancing, square dancing and his bluegrass music that he loved to play on any string instrument.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice N. Johnson, of LaGrange; daughters, Linda J. (Ray) Smith of Wakeman, Jane E. (Alex) Soto of Oberlin and Ann L. (Mel) Hornbeck of Wellington; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Mae Gordon of Wakeman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Al Johnson; mother, Pauline Johnson, Mother; and his sister, Lucille McDaniel.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Cowling Funeral Home, Inc., Oberlin. Funeral Service will be Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home, with Pastor Larry Nocella from Camden Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at River Road Cemetery, LaGrange, where Full Military honors will be conducted by Elyria VFW #1079.
