BEREA -- New Browns president Mike Holmgren hasn't made a decision on coach Eric Mangini.
They met briefly Tuesday during Holmgren's first day on the job, but have a longer meeting set for Wednesday.
"That’s an important question for the organization," Holmgren said in his introductory news conference. "I met with Eric briefly, but not THE meeting.
"I asked him to think about a few things this evening for the meeting tomorrow."
Holmgren insisted he has an open mind and could decide to keep Mangini for his second season.
"Otherwise, I wouldn't have set the meeting up," Holmgren said. "When you get to know me, I don’t dance too much. I appreciate people that will shoot straight."
He said the four-game winning streak to end the season is a good sign, but won't be the deciding factor. The Browns finished 5-11.
Holmgren talked for about a half-hour in a packed media room.
He confirmed he will interview Philadelphia general manager Tom Heckert on Wednesday for the Browns' GM job. Holmgren said he will meet with other candidates, but didn't identify them.
Holmgren has ties to Heckert, who works with Eagles coach Andy Reid, who used to coach under Holmgren and is one of his best friends in the game.
