SHEFFIELD — One person was killed and two people were LifeFlighted after a 7 a.m. accident on Colorado Avenue.

Royce Kowalczyk, 26, of Amherst, was driving a 2000 white Ford Explorer west on Colorado, at the 4500 block, when his car went left of center and struck a grey 2007 Saab 9-7X head on, according to police.

The Saab was driven by Terri Martin, 52, of Lorain, and Martin was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sheffield police Lt. Ron Trifiletti.

A third car, a green 1997 Buick LeSabre, was unable to avoid the accident and collided with the other two cars, Trifiletti said.

Kowalczyk and Mary Loescher, 57, of Lorain, the driver of the Buick, were both taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, and their condition was not yet available.
